Identification:
Variable colour from pale yellowish brown, grey-brown through to rich reddish brown. Marked with numerous narrow dark bands (may be prominent or obscure).
Call/Song: 

 
Eastern Australia - southern NSW to Cape York and islands of Torres Straight. 

Habitat:  Woodlands, wet and dry sclerophyll forests, rainforests and rock outcrops.


Feeding:  Main prey include small mammals, birds and eggs. Lizards are also taken (especially by young snakes).

Breeding/Nesting:   Individuals may gather in caves. Clutches may contain 4-6 eggs.

Other Common Names:  The northern Boiga irregularis has a distinct colouring and is called the 'Night Tiger'.
